Dr. Sivathanu Kumar obtained his MD degree from the Dr MGR Medical University, India, in 1995. Between 1996 to 2004 he completed his residencies in General Surgery, and specialized in Plastic Surgery, Hand and Micro-vascular surgery from India. He also completed a GME accredited Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at UAMS, in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2007.
His research activities involved a research fellowship program at the UAMS Department of Neurosurgery, on surgery for movement disorders, peripheral nerve diseases and skull base lesions between 2005-06. He is associated with the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Arkansas as a Research Associate since 2005 and now as a Research Assistant Professor since 2007. His current research activities concern testing of nanofabricated electrodes in experimental studies and in clinical use for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
